Welcome to RCS Kindergarten!!!
Our kindergarten curriculum is designed to meet the child’s needs for physical, social, emotional, cognitive and spiritual development through a variety of stimulating hands-on activities, a solid phonetic program, math, Bible, music and physical education program.
Our Bible curriculum encourages our children to grow spiritually through daily Bible class where Bible stories are read and scripture memory is promoted. We include the stories of creation through Joseph in the Old Testament and the Life of Jesus in the New Testament. A biblical worldview of God is taught through the day by bringing in God’s creation and His work on earth now through thematic units that have been developed.
– Treasures is a research based, comprehensive Reading Language Arts program for grades K-6 that gives educators the resources they need to help all students succeed. High quality literature coupled with explicit instruction and ample practice ensures that students grow as life-long readers and writers. Treasures is built on a three-week cycle. · Theme development around core literature· New skills/strategies are introduced in the first two weeks· Review of skills/strategies in the third weekThis program is found to be a well-rounded multi-sensory approach that reaches all students in their various modes of learning. As the year progresses, students write sentences and read books. Treasures curriculum has been found to be age appropriate helping students with spelling and writing. Children learn how to correctly write the upper and lower case letters of the alphabet as well as the correct pencil hold.
In Kindergarten students learn to tell time, count objects, tell what things make a shape, count money, and so much more.
Students also get to participate in specials. Kindergarten has physical education three times a week for half an hour.
We seek to give praise and honor to God through our voices, minds, and bodies God has created. Students are exposed to songs, rhythms, instruments, large and small motor activities to enhance their appreciation of and development of music. Students have music instruction three times per week to prepare them for multiple programs during the school year.
Kindergarten students have the opportunity to play with students in the 1st and 2nd grade classes at their recess times. Kindergarten students also build relationships with prayer partners. They meet twice a month with their 5th grade prayer partners.
