Middle School

Riverside’s middle school provides a healthy learning environment for students in grades six through eight to grow and mature. The teachers meet students where they are, academically and spiritually, and through prayer and a rigorous curriculum, foster advancement in learning and a deepening of faith. Riverside’s staff partners with parents during these important transitional years, as students are preparing for high school. Each classroom is equipped with interactive technology used to improve focus and collaboration, to enhance learning and address varied learning styles. While at school, students have use of a tablet to research, code, create and practice skills. The middle school students spend a week every fall at a creation-based science camp, Living Waters Bible Camp, in Wisconsin. This week is pivotal in the lives of some students, seeing God in creation in life-affirming ways and bonding in relationships with other middle school students. Along with this trip, every other year seventh and eighth grade students travel to Washington, D.C. in the spring. This trip closely ties in with Riverside’s emphasis on patriotism and servant leadership.Students have an eight period day that includes the subjects of Bible, math, science, literature, language, history, PE, music and art. They attend chapel every Wednesday at 8:40 and parents are welcome to attend, also. The students work together, under the direction of our music teacher, to stage a production in the spring known as Riverside’s Finish Strong Dinner Theater. Students are given many opportunities to grow and show leadership skills, such as prayer partners, care of flag, student council, wellness committee and fundraising for their DC trip.
