3-4 yr old class T/TH from 8:30-11:20am
4-5 yr old class M/W/F from 8:30-11:20am or 12:10-3:00pm

*Preschool placement is determined by a student’s age on Aug. 1 of the current school year

BIBLE

As with all of our classes at Riverside, the students begin each day in God’s Word. Utilizing the Abeka preschool curriculum, students begin to see God’s glory in their lives and how to apply what they learn from scripture into their every day life. They also begin to practice saying verses and prayers during this time to solidify their learning.

S.M.A.R.T.

The Stimulates Maturity through Accelerated Readiness Training (S.M.A.R.T.) program consists of fun physical activities to assist in developing and enhancing:

– large & fine motor skills
– balance & coordination
– visual efficiency
– attention

The program helps strengthen physiological and neurological brain development to ready preschoolers for kindergarten.

Reading

Our preschool reading program builds a foundation and love of learning for literacy. Throughout the year, students practice phonics utilizing the multi-sensory language arts program, Zoo Phonics. This program uses auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile learning to make reading fun and engaging for students.

Students will also be introduced to rhyming, retelling of stories, making predictions, sequencing events, classifying, visual discrimination, describing objects, drawing and dictating their own stories. These concepts will develop the necessary reading skills to prepare them for kindergarten.

Math

Teacher directed activities that teach:

Fine motor skills & handwriting

Students build skills while they play with jumbo tweezers, clothes pins, lacing cards, craft materials, beads, and writing materials.

Three- and four-year-olds begin with an introduction to handwriting by tracing their names, focusing on correct grip position for writing utensils.

Four- and five-year-olds practice writing their letters, numbers, and shapes first in sensory materials, such as sand, then on paper and chalk boards.
